The alarm went off, allowing a loud, high-pitched ring to pierce through the morning silence. Leeteuk, without opening his eyes even for a bit, lifted his hand slightly off his bed, just enough to reach across to the bedside table and grope anything in his reach that was able to shut the alarm up. He managed to grab hold of something of his palm-size – but he didn’t know exactly what it was, until he used it as a weapon to kill the alarm. Ah, it was his mobile phone…
...It was his mobile phone!
The young man immediately sat up, with eyes wide-open as he covered every inch of his mobile phone to search for any scratches or damages, after unintentionally hitting it so hard against the alarm clock.
Relieved that his mobile phone didn’t sustain any scratches to it, he slid the screen up to check for messages.
‘ New Message: Eunhyuk ‘ was flashed across the screen. Leeteuk smiled and opened the text message, which read:
Teukie hyung! Wake up already! Why do you always wake up so late; no wonder Heechul hyung got fed up with you and moved out! Okay, anyways – all thirteen of us are to meet later on in the evening at your house, okay! Take care, see you then!
Still half-asleep in his mind, Leeteuk replied with a confirmation and then checked the calendar. 25-12-08 – it was Christmas.

The whole Christmas morning and afternoon flew by so fast for Leeteuk, he didn’t even realize it was already a quarter to six. He was busy getting ready for the gathering of his 12 other “brothers” at his place later on.
It was six thirty, and the doorbell announced its first visitors’ arrival. Leeteuk excitedly answered the door, only to be greeted by six smiling faces that belonged to Eunhyuk, Heechul, Ryeowook, Donghae, Yesung and Kangin.
They were smiling for two reasons: the first, because they could spend Christmas together, and second, they could finally get out of the cold winter snow and into the warm, lighted home of their friend.
It wasn’t long after that did the rest came. By the time it was eight, everyone was present and ready to celebrate together. They ate, chatted, laughed, joked and whatever else one can do in the company of great friends.
The exchange of presents started soon after, and everyone gave and everyone received; everyone except the host. He gave gifts, but he didn’t receive any, or so he thought. But he didn’t mind it at all – after all, he already was in the company of loyal friends, what more could he ask for?
When Kyuhyun handed out the last of the presents, there was one for Leeteuk. Just one. The former handed it to the him. The present had been creatively wrapped up with white and blue wrapping paper, and it appeared to be flat. Curious to find out exactly what did his friends give him for Christmas, he ripped the paper apart excitedly.
It was a photo frame with a picture already inserted into it. When Leeteuk examined the people in the photo, it turned out that it was a picture of all thirteen of them, posing with hands around shoulders of the person next to them, looking happy with sheepish grins on each and everyone of their faces.
“Turn it to the back, hyung!” Shindong anticipated.
Leeteuk did as he was told, and turned the picture to the back. There was a note that read:
Dear Leeteuk hyung,
This is from all thirteen of us. It may not be much, but we do hope that you would cherish this, as this is a symbol and proof of our friendships and love for each other.
Thanks for everything you have done for us, no matter how trivial they may be, we will always remember them. All thirteen of us will forever remain together, through thick and thin...

As Leeteuk read the last words, his felt his cheeks become hot. Then, tears started rolling down uncontrollably. The young man was truly, deeply touched. He could feel their sincerity and love. It was one present, but he felt like it was the best present that he could ever receive from anyone.
He wiped the tears off his face, looked at every single one of his friends, then gave a big wide smile, which allowed his handsome dimple to show.
“Thanks. Having you guys as my brothers is the best thing that’s every happened to me. I love you all, merry Christmas.”Labels: christmas story
