Donghae never really thought much about love before. He knew what it felt like to lose a dear loved one, he knew what it was like to be loved by his family and friends. But the poor young man didn’t know what it was like to experience true love. He had always thought that true love was something that would never happen to him, and thus, never really concerned himself with affairs of the heart.

But there was this one person who allowed Donghae to vision sugar plum blossoms in his heart every time he thought about him; there was this one person whom Donghae could relate to, and pour out his true feelings to. That person is Eunhyuk.

Donghae only knew Eunhyuk for three, coming four, years. At first, there was no attraction between them that Donghae felt – and if there was, he would have felt it, as he was a very sensitive guy. But as time passed and the years flew by, his feelings for Eunhyuk have developed, up to the point where Donghae would sometimes secretly wish they were more than just platonic friends.

Finally, for the first time after living 20 over years of his life, Donghae decided to pursue the man he loved in the hopes that the feeling would be mutual, too.

Donghae got up early the next morning and waited for Eunhyuk at the train station where they would meet up everyday and go for breakfast – as friends – but of course, Donghae would very much like to change that.

As Eunhyuk arrived, Donghae’s heart raced. It was like with each step closer that Eunhyuk took, Donghae’s heart was also increasing its beats.

“Hello, good morning!” Eunhyuk greeted cheerfully with the trademark cheeky grin on his face, allowing his gums to show.

“Eunhyukkie!” Donghae tried to sound as casual as possible. He was going for it, today. He wasn’t going to let this precious opportunity slip away.

“Shall we set off?”

"Eunhyuk-ah, wait. Let’s stay here at the station for a while longer.”

"But, why? See! The train’s here, let’s go! Or we’ll be the only two left after the train sets off!”

"That’s exactly what I want.”

The train doors slid shut with a slight click which signaled that it was safe to move on onto the journey.

As the train began to pick up speed, the hundreds of faces inside whizzed past a confused Eunhyuk and an awkward Donghae. As the last cabin disappeared behind the pillars in the distance, complete silence fell upon the two.

“So, what are you trying to do? We’re the only ones here!”

“Eunhyuk,” Donghae couldn’t keep his composure anymore – he was about to explode, “I have just one question. One question…and one confession to make.”

“Wh..what is it?” Eunhyuk was starting to get scared. Why was Donghae acting like this?

“ILIKEYOUHYUNG,I’VELIKEDYOUFORAVERYLONGTIMEAND
I’VEFINALLYMUSTEREDUPTHECOURAGETOCONFESS.WILLYOUGOOUTWITHME?” Donghae couldn’t believe he said it. He actually confessed to the man he loved. But…

“Donghae, Donghae! Slow down! I couldn’t catch a word!” Eunhyuk was amused, he had never seen his friend so nervous before.

“Oh..you didn’t? Okay,” Donghae was finding it awkward – of course, normal people only do the confession once, after all, “I…I like you, hyung. I’ve finally mustered up the courage to confess to you; will you go out with me?”

After the last word left Donghae’s lips, another blanket of silence fell upon them.

This isn’t going well…should I just forget it and change the topic? Should I--,

Donghae’s thoughts were somehow unable to continue on, as he saw a big wide smile forming on Eunhyuk’s face. That smile. That smile was so beautiful, so genuine, so priceless.

“Remember this date and time.” Eunhyuk finally spoke.

“Wh..what?”

“Remember this special date and time; I’d want you to celebrate this date and time with me next year, for our one year anniversary together, and every single year after that.”
